Sir,

With reference to the Colonial Secretary's

letter of 22nd. May, No. 4019/03/0.8.0., and my reply thereto of the 25th. idem, No. 988, relative to the alleged danger of treat-

ing small-pox cases in the new Naval Infectious hospital, I have

the honour to inform Your Excellency that the Commander-in-Chief

to whor 1 referred the matter, does not approve of my acting on

the Colonial Government's suggestion relative to utilising the

"Midge" for smail-pox patients and reserving the new hospital for

patients suffering from other infectious diseases.

Under these circumstances I have no other

course to pursue than to send cases suffering from small-pox to

the new hospital.

I have etc.,

(Sa.) C. G. Robinson,

Commodore.
